Trump's wrong about the UK
Never has a president been so wrong about so many things as Donald Trump.
Trump said Starmer is ‘no Winston Churchill‘ when Starmer refused to let him use UK bases to launch attacks on Iran from. Well, as usual, he is wrong - at least partly. Unlike Neville Chamberlain, Churchill refused to cooperate with the autocratic, fascist dictator Hitler - one of Trump’s role models - but fought him all the way. In this case, Starmer refused to cooperate with the autocratic, fascist dictator Trump. I hope Starmer and his colleagues will fight Trump all the way - preferably not involving actual warfare, of course.
The Trump administration has also said that Europe is facing the “stark prospect of civilizational erasure” because whites are becoming the minority, and that is a bad thing in his view and that of his followers. I think he is dead wrong. A nation full of people co-operating with each other and enriching each others’ culture is a greater nation than a narrow-minded, inbred one. Hybridisation brings vigour.
Trump is one of many who believe that whites are superior. The only thing they seem to be superior at is bullying and violence. With invasions, wars and genocides they have been extremely destructive. They also brought us the industrial revolution and scientific and technological advances. But historically, other races have held the lead, and their modern descendants are showing themselves perfectly capable of taking up the baton once more.
He excoriates the UK for supporting renewables. He says they are a blot on the landscape. He ignores the fact that power stations are a blot on the landscape. He says renewables are not reliable. He ignores the fact that fossil fuels and nuclear are not reliable, and that fossil fuels (at affordable extraction cost) run out. He ignores the fact that nuclear plants can be shut down for extended periods, and are at risk of accidents, warfare and enormous delays coming online - and they are expensive. And he ignores the fact that fossil fuel prices can be manipulated by big suppliers and cartels (e.g. OPEC), and that they are also at risk from warfare, for example bombed refineries. Even as the Strait of Hormuz has been closed by his own war and America is having to bear the cost of protecting ships and pipelines, as well as risking sailors’ and pilots’ lives, he is in denial. And countries can interfere with supplies too - as Russia and the USA have done, and Venezuela did by nationalising oil. Using non-renewables makes countries far more vulnerable - perhaps that is what he wants. And the USA is a fossil fuel producer - high dependence by and therefore high prices to other countries would suit Trump.
I hope Starmer ignores Trump and does everything possible to reduce UK fossil fuel dependency before next winter. Trump blames renewables for high energy prices, including in the UK. He is wrong. Unfortunately for Brits, UK electricity prices depend on gas and are not affected by the cheaper renewables. However, the UK does not have the most expensive electricity.
He said London wants to go to Sharia Law. That’s a lie. There are some sharia courts in the UK, but they are no part of the law.
To the extent that there is tension between Muslims and others, a lot of it has been exacerbated by Trump and his enablers spreading their racism here.
Despite not having a clue what he is talking about or doing, Trump is dragging the UK into his war, just as he is dragging many countries into troubles they did not ask for or deserve. He is a major menace to the world. And to all Americans who think it is cool to be ignorant - it is not. It is very stupid and is coming back to bite you. Time to wake up and listen to people with sense.
I suppose it is not surprising that Trump is as wrong about the UK as he is about everything else. He’s an idiotic pretender to the presidency. He’s not fit to be dogcatcher (nor is Noem, as Cricket would testify).
You don’t abandon a friend when they go mad. You help them if you can. But the first priority must be to protect yourself from harm until they regain their senses. In this case, it means not getting dragged into war with Iran. In that, I fully support the prime minister.
Agree dump is the village idoit who unfortunately is sundowning on a global stage. But, I am interested to see how the PM swings this. Will he continue to give access 🇺🇸 bases ?
